How it works

How a session works

A little preparation, a comfortable session in your own home, and a recording to keep.

01The session

Four steps

  1. 1

    Get in touch

What you want to record, your location and a date.

  2. 2

    We agree the details

Your room, the session length and the total price, before you commit.

  3. 3

    We come and record

Set up in around 15 minutes, then record, listen back and go again if you wish.

  4. 4

    Your recordings arrive

Your recorded takes, delivered digitally within seven working days.

03Studio editing

The professional chain, in order

Professional editing, discussed when booking.

01

Archive the raw take

Your untouched recording is saved first and kept. Nothing is ever processed on the only copy.

02

Edit

Mistakes, retakes and false starts removed, the spacing between ayahs set, and a fade on every cut so no edit can be heard.

03

Repair

DC offset corrected, clicks and mouth noise removed, and any mains hum notched out if it crept in.

04

Noise reduction

Gentle, using a profile captured from real silence in your room, so the voice stays natural.

05

High-pass filter

Everything below about 75 to 85 Hz removed: rumble, footsteps and handling noise, without touching the voice.

06

Subtractive EQ

Cuts only: muddiness and boxy resonances taken out so the voice sits clean.

07

De-esser

Sharp sibilance on letters such as seen, saad and sheen tamed so long listening stays comfortable.

08

Compression

Two light stages, so quiet and strong passages sit together evenly while the natural rise and fall is kept.

09

Additive EQ

A small shelf for presence and air, once the problems are already gone.

10

Reverb on a send

The hall is blended in behind a dry, clear voice rather than stamped onto it, with a short pre-delay so the first consonant of every word stays intelligible.

11

Mastering

A final tone check, limiter, loudness target and true peak ceiling, so the recording plays at the right level everywhere.
