Who we are

Divine Echoes is run by Mohammad Aamir Desai, a sole trader in the United Kingdom ("we"). This policy covers the website divineechoes.org, the Name the Reciter game, and the Divine Echoes app for iPhone and Android. For any question, or to use your rights below, email support@divineechoes.org.

What we collect

If you have an account

If you play Name the Reciter as a guest

The name you type, the month and year you were born, your games, your scores and your messages in game chats.

If you make a Name the Reciter account

Your name, your email address and your password (kept only in a scrambled form that cannot be read back), or, if you sign in with Google, the ID, name, email and picture Google gives us. The month and year you were born. Your games, scores and messages in game chats, and a profile picture if you choose one.

If a parent or guardian makes a Name the Reciter account for their child

The parent's email address and password, the child's name and the month and year the child was born, and when the parent gave their permission. The child's games, scores and quick messages in game chats.

If you ask for an account

Your name, the username you would like, your mobile number and your message.

On every visit

Our server keeps a log of requests, including your internet (IP) address. This keeps the service working and secure.

The microphone is used only while you are recording. Voice chat in Name the Reciter goes directly between players and is never recorded.

What we don't do

No adverts, no tracking across other websites, no analytics companies, and we never sell your information.

Cookies and your device

We use two cookies, both needed for the site to work:

The site also saves settings on your device, such as dark mode and the screen you were on. It keeps a recording safe on your device while you are still making it.

Why we use it

Who can see what

Services that handle data for us

Where information leaves the UK, it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires.

How long we keep it

When you delete your account, your recordings, messages, uploads, history and the texts we sent you are deleted straight away. Stage tags you published stay on their recordings, credited to Divine Echoes, so the library stays complete. Problem reports and questions you asked the help assistant are kept without your name.

Deleting your account

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can:

Email support@divineechoes.org and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Divine Echoes is for people aged 13 and over. Under 13s may become members only with a parent's or teacher's permission.

Name the Reciter asks everybody who plays without being a member when they were born. If you are under 13 you cannot play as a guest, and nothing you typed is kept; a parent or guardian can make an account for you instead, with their permission. If you are 13 to 17, or play on an account a parent made, you play as everybody does, but chat with the quick messages only, never typed messages or voice chat, and you are not shown what other players type. An account a parent made is never shown on the leaderboards. We keep only the month and year you were born. If you chose the wrong date you can correct it in the app (You, then Privacy) or on the game page; a date a parent gave can be changed by emailing us.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top, and tell members in the app if the change matters.
